The boys lacrosse team is back on the field for its 28th season since Grandview’s opening in 1998, and the team is wasting no time setting the tone for this year. With strong team chemistry, confidence built during the off-season, and a fast pace of play, the Wolves are aiming to bring home plenty of wins this season.
For many players, the excitement of the season comes from more than just competition.
“I’m mostly excited about actually getting to play against teams and making new friends,” Omari Fletcher (10th) said.
While competition is a major part of the sport, lacrosse also creates opportunities for players to build friendships and strengthen team bonds. Fletcher explained that his role on the field adds to that excitement.
“I’m playing D-Mitty. What I most enjoy about it is that you still get a short stick, but you still get to play on defense, which is cool because you can have more flexibility,” Fletcher said.
In preparation for the season, players have focused on improving their chemistry and putting in the work during the off-season. Many said that consistent practices and scrimmages have helped them feel ready for upcoming games.
“We have been preparing in the off-season by playing other teams and practicing as a team multiple times a week,” Declan Logue (10th) said.
As the team continues to develop, players believe that maintaining strong teamwork will be one of the biggest keys to success this year.
“It’s looking good at both levels, and as long as we keep building each other up, we should be set for the season,” Colt Ziegler-Vincent (10th) said.

Support from family and friends also plays a major role in keeping players motivated throughout the season. For many athletes, encouragement from loved ones helps them stay focused during difficult practices and long weeks of games.
“My dad helped a lot because of the love we share for the game and how much I’ve learned and continue to learn from him,” Ziegler-Vincent said.
Other players shared similar sources of motivation.
“Just the love for the game and the ties that my family has with the sport,” Carson Cook (9th) said.
“My family and friends motivate me the most,” Logue said.
However, the road to the season hasn’t been easy. Off-season conditioning has pushed players physically as they prepare for the level of competition ahead.
“It has been intense but necessary to help get everyone ready for the level of play,” Ziegler-Vincent said.
With months of preparation behind them, both the JV and varsity teams appear ready to take on the challenges of the 2026 season. As the players continue to build chemistry and confidence, the outlook for Grandview lacrosse is strong.
