Athlete of the Week- Bergen Anderson (2/10)

How did it feel to be Arapahoe last week?

It’s really good to get that win against a top 10 team. We have been fighting through some adversity this season, some of the wins and losses, so it was good to see a big win.

How does it feel to be on a three game win streak right now?

It feels great to be on a three game win three game win. We beat three solid teams in our league. We started off league, losing two games, so it was good to get this win streak. It was been good to bounce back and I think we’re gonna keep going.

How have you and your team been mentally and physically preparing to win your next game?

We’ve been mentally and physically preparing by just working hard during our times of practice. We don’t have too many practices anymore, just working hard when we have the time and making sure to rest. Make sure our body’s in the right condition, y’know.

How did you and your team manage to beat Arapahoe?

We just worked hard as a team. We found each other and all the spots. So it was just a really big one for us.

What does training and conditioning look like on your team?

Regular sprints and stuff like that, but also we just work on a lot of timed stuff to [simulate] real game scenarios, so it gives us a good sense of what happens during the real game.

How do you and your team improve on your teamwork and get better at things like communication?

We’ve been just trying to workout all season and it’s been an up and down path. We had some bad bad parts of communication. We’ve also grown to have some great parts. So we’re just working at it day by day getting better.

What’s your favorite basketball memory?

My favorite basketball memory was probably last year when we beat Smokey. We play Smokey today, so we gotta win another big one for us.

What are your plans for playing basketball in the future?

My plans are to go to college after high school. I’ve been in contact with some coaches throughout the season, so kind of just trying to find the right place for me to go after high school, for both academics and sports and stuff.

When did you start playing basketball and when did it really get serious?

I’ve been playing basketball for a lot of my life. I started when I was five and I kind of just worked my way up.
