In Retrospect – Wolves Reflect on their School Year
“It wasn’t terrible. I think that the welcoming day with all the teachers introducing us to high school is definitely nice. I really like the way our schedules are made. I feel like the only thing is that I’d like to have [is] more school events that participate during school.”
“Some of my key takeaways from my 1st year of high school are just learning how to balance my time: not procrastinating on my work and studying hard for tests.”
“Don’t wait until the last minute to study. Start studying now. So you’re prepared, and you can build up, and when your midterms or your finals come around, you’re not stressing about getting everything done for your 1,000,000,000 classes.”
“My key takeaway from this year was the importance of studying, locking in, and working hard. Those things help you see results. I would advise underclassmen to study and focus on school.”
“My key takeaways are that they were not exaggerating about junior year being the year with the heaviest workload and it went by pretty quick.”
“One thing I learned this year in high school is that time goes by fast, so it’s important to stay focused and keep up with your work. I also learned that good friends and asking for help can make school easier.”
“This year of high school, I learned how important it was to not fall asleep in class and get my work in on time.”
“I’d say my key takeaway from this year is that no matter what you think, you will get senioritis, so bear that in mind when choosing your classes. Otherwise you’re going to hate everything.”
“My biggest takeaway from high school is that time goes by way faster than you think. Freshman year feels like it just started, and suddenly you’re applying to colleges and getting ready to graduate. I also learned that grades matter, but so do friendships, memories, and getting involved in activities.”
“You should do what you feel is best, and you should do what you think is going to help you the most.”
“My advice would be to wisely choose who you surround yourself with and make sure you have positive relationships with your teachers and friends.”
“I’d say to stay on top of everything and don’t fall behind because it’s hard to catch up.”
“Focus on what you want to do and work towards whatever college you want to go to. Know when you want to study, but also know the right times to do fun things like senior sunset, spending time with friends, things like that.”
“Take more APs, don’t skip class, but try not to stress about school too much because at the end of the day, it’s not going to matter that much. Live life to the fullest.”
“I think underclassmen should really engage with their classes and make as much as possible with them, and try to get good grades. Yet, I will say that grades aren’t everything; this is the time to for them to truly discover who they are, and Grandview really provides plenty of opportunities for this, so, join many activities, clubs, sports. You only get so much time to be young; explore new things and discover yourself.”
“My advice to underclassmen is just to give yourself the freedom and the time and the space to explore. And also, go places and do things that if your club’s doing something you should go with them, ’cause it’ll be so cool. All of the events will be so impactful for you, and you’re later career in your later life. Just go find, go find things [to do], go places, go do stuff that you think is awesome, because it’ll teach you a lot.”
“Stay on top of your work. Don’t lack. Get all your work done stay on top of your grades.”
“Don’t bite off more than you can chew. Do your homework, go to class, and also don’t be afraid to ask your teachers or students around you for help.”
