Prom Final Thoughts

Prom Final Thoughts

This year, prom was located at the Empower Field on April 5th. Since the theme was “Here We Glow”, the venue was filled with glow sticks and a neon dance floor.

“My favorite part about the entire venue was the lighting. The dance floor combined with dark lighting really contributed to the ambiance,” Ruby Best said.

Along with the dance floor and neon decor, Leadership- the organizational force behind the event- set up photo booths and beverage stations.

“I really liked the theme that Leadership chose, but I wish they did a little more with it. They used the same floor from Hoco, and I kinda just wanted something new,” Evelyn Flanagan said.

Others at Grandview agree, the most common complaint wishing for more decor revolving around the theme. However, attire-wise, students were able to get creative with “Here We Glow”.

“I really liked the theme because I enjoy dressing up and wearing bright colors,” Flanagan said. “A lot of dresses I saw were really cute. This year I saw a lot of tighter dresses instead of the traditional big, poofy, prom dresses that were more popular a couple years ago,”

No matter the attire, almost everyone was on the dance floor. There were some mixed opinions about the music played.

“They asked us to fill out a form for music we wanted to be played. If I’m being honest, I feel like they didn’t use any of those recommendations. Some of the songs definitely could have been better,” Best said.

Despite student songs requests and the prom playlist developed through student interviews, most students felt they were not satisfied with the music- but it definitely contributed to the mood according to student response.

“The music was great for hyping people up and contributing to the mood,” Best said.

Flanagan agreed that Prom 25’ was one to remember and recommends that underclassmen should go once they can.

“It’s a great time with your friends and I had just had a lot of fun overall” Evelyn Flanagan said.
