Out With the Old, In With the New: Fashion Trends We Don't Agree With

Fashion trends tend to vary on the type of people you ask. Your style is a part of who you are and it’s what makes you. Grandview has extremely diverse fashion trends, but we find a few fashion trends oversaturated, and we don’t like them. Here are the top 5 fashion trends we don’t agree with:

Ice Cream Hair

We dislike ice cream hair because the hair is basic, and it’s something that is seen on everyone. Hair is a fashion piece and with the right haircut, it can bring an outfit together. Ice cream cut doesn’t really improve an outfit by much.

Slippers (briks, uggs, crocs)

Ryan Peterson

Everyone hopped on the bandwagon to make many slippers become popular such as Birks, Uggs, Crocs etc. But it has simply become too much since everyone has them now and wears them with any and everything. The shoes are comfortable but can make you seem lazy and are commonly paired with sweats and a hoodie – which isn’t exactly a fashion statement.

Skinny Jeans

Ryan Peterson

Skinny jeans aren’t the worst thing to wear and can be put together into a great fit, but people tend to make fun of them because of the “baggiest jeans in Atlanta” meme. Skinny jeans aren’t really a problem but the fact is people don’t know how to properly style them – like wearing baggy hoodies with very tight jeans, it isn’t an amazing combo.

Sprayground Backpacks

Cesar Torres

Sprayground backpacks are very popular but we see it as overrated and don’t really see the hype behind it. Some of the designs by sprayground aren’t the worst and we could find ourselves wearing it but other sprayground backpack designs are found childish. Another issue with them is the price of the bags – many people wouldn’t wanna spend $80+ on a backpack.

Colored hair

People tend to dislike the extremely colored artificial hair, such as bright orange, green,

blue, and striped hair. That specific hairstyle is hard to match with clothes, and because it’s “unnatural” and an “eye sore” to most people it’s usually disliked.
