As prom season approaches at Grandview, the excitement over the music is building. A recent survey of students attending this year’s prom reveals some clear favorites when it comes to the songs they want to hear. Here’s a breakdown of the songs students want to hear on the big night:

“TBH” by PARTYNEXTDOOR – With 18% of votes, this smooth, laid-back track takes the top spot as the most popular choice for prom. This song is a really popular song right now on TikTok, and Instagram. I personally enjoy listening to the song and I think it’s a good choice for prom. 

“Wild Thoughts” by Rihanna – At 14%, this fiery track is a go-to favorite for getting the party started. This song is a great hype song for prom. 

“Time of Our Lives” by Pitbull – 13% of students are excited to dance to this high-energy anthem during the night. This song is a good oldie but goodie, this song will always hit differently. It’s a real zinger. 

“All the Stars” by Kendrick Lamar – With 11% of the vote, this powerful, soulful song is a top contender for making prom night unforgettable. Popular because of its presence in Black Panther, TikTok, and the super bowl, it is a classic choice.

“Just Wanna Rock” by Lil Uzi Vert – This upbeat, modern track earns 9% of the vote, bringing a fresh vibe to the playlist. This song is a great pick for this year’s prom. 

“I Wanna Dance with Somebody” by Whitney Houston – A prom classic, this ’80s hit also captures 9% of the vote, showing it’s still a crowd favorite. Even though this song is an older one, doesn’t mean it’s not popular throughout the student body. This song would be great for prom.

“We Are the People” by Empire of the Sun – 7% of students also voted for this mellow, atmospheric song, adding some chill vibes to the evening. This song is a great one. I think it would add a lot to the prom playlist and really get the crowd excited. It is classic for the end of the school year and summer coming up.
