Reactions To This Year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show

The Super Bowl Halftime Show is one of the biggest events of the year because it brings some of the biggest pop artists to perform inspiring and creative performances in just 15 minutes. This year’s show was one of its kind with the featured acts being more diverse with a rap-dominated lineup with primarily black artists; The acts that performed were Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, and Eminem.

After the day of the big game, I talked to students around our school and asked for their thoughts on this year’s big event.

Did you like the halftime show?

“Oh yeah, that was crazy.”-  sophomore AJ Seavron

“Yes I did.” –  freshman Jayden Hagan

What was your favorite part of the halftime show?

“Mary J.  Blige’s part or 50 Cent‘s because he was such a surprise to the audience. 50 Cent [performing] was such a surprise and I didn’t expect him to be there at all.”- Hagan

Did any of your favorite artists perform?

“No, but I do like Snoop Dogg.”- sophomore Dylan Mcmahon

“Yeah Snoop Dogg and 50.”- Seavron

Do you think that this halftime show was one of the best in history?

“Yes, I think it was the best in [its’] history.”- freshman Michaloni Pittman

“I think it is one of the best, but it comes short to Prince’s in 2006.”- Jayden

Did this halftime show have a much bigger importance than previous ones in the past?

“Yes because normally what they will do is they will get a normal singer or like a slow [singing] singer. The last decent one was Shakira and J-Lo (Jennifer Lopez) but this one was really good especially [with] it being Black History Month.”-  Jayden

“Yes, one hundred percent. I think it was good that they had all black artists come out and do it. I think that in today’s society, that was very impactful. I also know that this was the first time that rap was ever in the halftime show and that it made history.”- Pittman
