The #1 Ranked HS Player on ESPN’s Class of 2022 list.

The 2021 Gatorade Player of the Year in Colorado.

Two-time Gold medalist for Team USA.

And now a 2022 McDonald’s All-American.

Adding to her already impressive resume, Betts was selected to participate in this year’s McDonald’s All-American Game. The annual event features the country’s 24 best senior girls basketball players in high school.

I’m just really humbled and grateful,” said Betts.

For the Stanford commit, being selected was a dream come true.

“I remember [with] one of my first ever coaches, we wrote down on a piece of paper all of the goals I wanted to pursue as a high school athlete,” said Betts.  “I just remember one of them was obviously getting into Stanford and being an All-American.”

“This is just a really huge moment for me,” Betts added.

On the day of the announcement, Betts was going through a variety of emotions.

“I tried not to think about it that much because if I did I’d have huge anxiety,” said Betts. “Honestly, when it got announced, I was just in shock.”

Betts becomes the second player to be an All-American, the first being Michaela Onyenwere (Class of 2017), who won the 2021 WNBA Rookie of the Year Award.

“She’s such a huge inspiration to me and she’s such a huge role model,” said Betts. “I’m honored to be behind her name and have that same opportunity that she had.”

Center Reagan Beers (committed to Oregon State) from Valor Christian was also selected for the game. Being good friends, Betts shared her excitement of them being on the roster.

“We grew up playing together and once our AAU team ended and we couldn’t get to play with each other anymore, I just really missed having that connection with her,” said Betts. We’re obviously good friends but really good competitors and we make each other better.”

As the best high school girls basketball player in the country, Betts’s hard work and dedication to basketball continues to pay off.

“It’s crazy when you dream about it for so long and it actually happens,” Betts said. “I’m just super thankful for the opportunity and I’m really grateful for all of the people who have helped me get to this point in my career.

Lauren will play the 2022 McDonald’s All-American Game on Tuesday, March 29th @6:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
