Cherry Creek Schools and NWSL Team Up to Empower Future Athletes and Leaders

With a new deal between the Denver National Women’s Soccer League and the Cherry Creek School District, a new era of growing leagues is upon us. This new deal, announced on March 26th, will help foster the development of youth athletes and provide benefits for both professionals and youth alike.

“This first-of-its-kind partnership between Denver NWSL and CCSD will help advance women’s youth, amateur, and professional sports in Colorado while supporting CCSD’s Core Values and vision of a Pathway of Purpose for every student,” the CCSD District Communications Office said.

This partnership, possible thanks to the CCSD community, includes the shared use of training and a stadium (scheduled for completion by March 2026) for non-tackle sports throughout the district.

“Success in this partnership means providing another Pathway of Purpose for our students and advancing the strategic goals of our district, including ensuring CCSD remains a destination district for academics, activities, and athletics,” the CCSD District Communications Office said.

This partnership started with negotiations between the two parties for several months and details continue to be finalized for the partnership. These details include the district’s contribution for the construction of playing fields as well as a portion of the cost for the stadium.

“CCSD will contribute $15M to construct playing fields and provide a portion of the cost of a stadium that can be used by CCSD teams for all non-tackle football sports at no cost to the District,” the CCSD District Communications Office said.

For the district, this aligns with their commitment to the strategic goals for the future of their students’ education.

“CCSD will continue to provide unique, world-class programs and opportunities that attract families to our community,” the CCSD District Communications Office said.

As the district continues to support youth and women’s sports in the region, these opportunities will continue to grow as long as increased access to playing fields.

“This partnership also includes a robust community benefits package for CCSD students, including: facilities and equipment management, and other related roles, opportunities for CCSD athletes to receive instruction or mentorship from NWSL staff and/or players, and presentations or instruction from NWSL staff or players for CCSD athletes and students, including CCIC business students,” CCSD District Communications Office said.

New opportunities for students is what the district strives to provide. As this deal continues to develop and foster new interests, they believe that this partnership will open new doors for students.

“Today marks an exciting new chapter for Cherry Creek Schools and the start of a long-term partnership that offers another Pathway of Purpose and life-changing opportunities for students,” said Cherry Creek Superintendent Christopher Smith.
