Glow Big or Glow Home: Prom 2025 Lights Up the Night

Let it Glow! Prom 2025 is April 5th!

Prom is a monumental event every teen has dreamed of since they were young. They picture what they’re going to wear, who they go with, and even the night itself. But it’s hard to imagine when you don’t know the theme. This year’s student led Leadership is proud to announce ‘Here we Glow’!

“I think prom is a rite of passage. I think everybody should have the opportunity to go to at least one prom. I remember my own proms,” Mrs. Beaird said.

There were many factors that went into creating a prom theme that everyone could enjoy. It’s easy to pick a traditional boring theme, but Leadership was able to go past the norm and think far beyond to something every student would love.

“I would say it’s just unique in the way that we thought about it. We didn’t want to have something as specific as a Gatsby theme, we wanted it to be something where girls could match their dresses to,” Junior class Vice President, Jordan Moten said.

When it comes to all the different factors of picking a theme, there are plenty of things to consider. Some factors include

being inclusive, being unique, and especially a theme where girls and guys will have fun picking an outfit.

We were thinking about themes for a couple of months. We decided that we wanted our theme to be all inclusive and [not] have a gender to it,” Moten said.

Given a substantial amount of time to find a strong theme, a dedicated community of students and staff with unique ideas will be organizing the prom. They are working with a specialized company for lighting- Elite Entertainment. Combined, the night will be unforgettable for our upperclassmen.

“I think knowing our vision and knowing the amount of lights and the decorations that we’re going to put into it, the juniors and seniors will come together to have a fun night that no one else is going to beat,” Moten said.

Decorations like balloons, garland, banners, and intricate lighting are some of the ways to really show the theme, but to step it up this year there will be a Glow Bar.

“We are also going to have a glow bar at prom to really sell the theme as well. The glow bar will contain things like glow sticks, light up glasses, all things like that,” Moten said.

Kim stresses that the Leadership is working really well with Elite Entertainment. A combination of Grandview and their provided props will blend together well. All of these components and information have been illustrated on Grandview’s prom Instagram account, @GHSprom_ .

“We did make an Instagram account- something new that we started this year- and so we are going to really try to promote the theme. We also have ads that we’re going to send out as we get closer,” Junior class President, Talia Kim said.

Despite the decor and the theme of the prom, the main goal Leadership wants to achieve is upperclassmen attending prom make unforgettable memories.

“I definitely think it’ll be hype and upbeat, especially with this theme in particular. I just hope kids come and have a good time,” said Mrs. Beaird. “I want them to feel celebrated. I want it to be fun. I want them to be safe. And I just think it’s going to be a great night.”
