The 2024-25 season has come to an end after many ups and downs. This season was filled with many upsets and improvement. The team managed to touch the playoffs this year, starting the season off strong with a 3-0 record and ending with a solid record of 14-12.

The season, however, was not without challenges, struggling not only with opponents but with other aspects of the game.

“I really think it was probably mental toughness. At times we were kind of letting our emotions get the best of us, and I feel like that is what led us to some of our losses,” Senior Gano Enkhbayar said.

Grandview, despite these challenges, went on to make the playoffs this year, exceeding everyone’s expectations.

“Making the playoffs was amazing, I’ve never been in a playoff environment before and words can’t really describe it,” Enkhbayer said. “It’s just kind of like a once in a lifetime thing.”

A big part of making the playoffs came from valuable skills like teamwork and communication that were vastly improved over the duration of the season with the help of the new coach Ryan Turk.

“We’ve worked through [communication] all season and it’s been an up and down path,” Senior Breven Anderson said. “We had some bad parts of communication but we’ve also grown to have some great parts, so we just worked at it day to day.”

Along with the many team improvements, self-improvement is another big thing.

“Personally, I’m disappointed with how it went, but it isn’t the end, so I’m just gonna keep going and keep working,” Enkhbayar said.

Even with all of the advancements made this year, Grandview ended up taking a hard loss to Regis during the playoffs.

“I’d probably say our toughest opponent was Regis,” Enkhbayar said. “I think we were the better team, but there were a lot of factors that added onto it like playing away and it was just a big game as well so I think pressure kind of got to us,” Enkhbayar said.

Through all of the season’s ups and downs, we had a clear improvement going from last year’s 6-17 record to this year’s season being 14-12 and reaching the third round in playoffs.

“I’m proud [comparing] to last season, we didn’t even touch the playoffs, and we had probably one of the worst records in Grandview history. I’m disappointed with how it ended, but I’m really proud of our team and like how far we came and how much we grew,” Enkhbayar said.
