What inspired you to start wrestling?

What inspired me to start wrestling was my dad put me in a club at a young age, and then ever since then I just fell in love with the sport.

What is your relationship with your team and your coach?

Uh, the relationship with the team is amazing. I grew up with them. We were in the same club growing up, same with the coaches. They’ve been coaching us since we were little. So that’s why the grandview team is so good.

What is your favorite thing about this sport?

I think the favorite thing about the sport is how hard it is, it teaches us dedication and how to never give up.

What has been your most memorable match and why?

I think the most memorable match I’ve had was probably my freshman year here against CT. It was my first high school match with the coaches. It was just a great experience.

Do you have any advice for aspiring wrestlers?

A piece of advice that I would give young wrestlers trying to get into is trust the process, wrestling takes a long time to perfect your moves. It’s just a grind.

When did you really start taking wrestling seriously?

I think I started taking wrestling serious was the beginning of middle school, because elementary, it was just you was just messing around at that point, but middle school is when it started getting serious.

How do you stay focused while playing?

I stay focused while wrestling is uh it’s a next score mentality. It’s not worrying about what the outcome is. It’s just worrying about where you’re gonna do in those next few seconds to win more than anything.

How do you balance school work with your sport?

How I balance school work is paying attention in class and trying to get as much of it done in class so that when you are done with practice, you don’t you don’t have to go home and go do more schoolwork.

How has wrestling changed your personal life?

I think wrestling has changed my personal life by making me strive to be a better person and just never giving up.

Are there any lessons you take away from the mat?

I think the lessons that I take away from the mat are to continue, never give up, persevere through adversities and be number one.
