GHS Signing Day 2019

GHS+Signing+Day+2019

The very last day for seniors is steadily becoming more of a reality. Grandview coaches hand over their athletes to colleges as 34 students sign their National Letter of Intent.

“Freshman year is when it started getting serious. I learned that college basketball could be a possibility for me and it was definitely something I wanted to do for me and my parents,” said Tyler Unger.

Just keep working hard, stay dedicated.

Unger has been on varsity since sophomore year and has been recruited by Nebraska Wesleyan.

“You have to buy in, you have to want to be successful, you have to work hard, and you have to focus in school.” said Unger.

Colleges rarely personally hand select players, often athletes have to make the right connections and reach out to colleges that interest them. Not only are these students athletically gifted, they also have to meet the GPA requirements.

“You need connections with college coaches, counselors, and you need to know people who went there,” said Matthew Hamilton who is signed to Doane College for Baseball. “Just keep working hard, stay dedicated.”

Nevertheless, the students have done their jobs and are excited to move on to the next chapter of their lives.
